This policy applies to personal information collected by this website and artist Alke Schmidt.

Your privacy

I respect the privacy of visitors to my website and take my duty to protect your personal information very seriously.

You do not have to give any personal information in order to use this website.
However, if you wish to subscribe to my mailing list or request further information, I  will collect your name and email address. I never intend to send you unsolicited emails.

How I collect and manage your data

Mailing list

When you sign up to my mailing list (either by signing my visitors book at exhibitions, subscribing via the website, or by personal request) then you provide me with your name and email address (“your data”). 
I use Mailchimp as my marketing automation platform. By joining my mailing list you acknowledge that the information you provide will be added/transferred to Mailchimp for processing in accordance with their Privacy Policy and Terms
You can be assured that I will not sell, rent or give your data to any third parties, and will only contact you with regards to my latest news and events. 

Other services

If I provide you with other services (such as selling an artwork or delivering an exhibition or an event) I may also collect additional information from you as necessary, e.g. telephone number, address or, if you purchase an artwork from me, payment details.

Again, I will not share your details with any third parties, except where I use another individual or organisation to deliver services for you, e.g. your postal address for delivery companies to deliver an order.

Unsubscribing from my Mailing List 

You can unsubscribe from my email mailing list at any time by clicking the 'unsubscribe' link at the bottom of my communication emails, or by using the contact form on my website. You can also contact me via post (see address below).

Retaining information and your right to be forgotten

I hold your information only as long as necessary for each reason that I use it.

Once you unsubscribe from my mailing list or request that I have no further contact with you I will keep your basic information (name, email address) on my mailchimp “unsubscribed” database to avoid sending you unwanted materials in the future. 

However, you can request for all data I hold on you to be deleted completely (right to be 'forgotten').  ​ If you want to be removed completely, please contact me directly

If you make a purchase I keep invoices for a period of seven years for accounting purposes. 

Summary of your rights

You have a number of rights about how the personal information you provide can be used. These are:

  • Transparency over how I use your personal information (right to be informed).

  • The ability to request a copy of the information I hold about you, which will be provided to you within one month (right of access).

  • Update or amend the information I hold about you if it is wrong (right of rectification).

  • Ask me to stop using your information (right to restrict processing).

  • Ask me to remove your personal information from our records (right to be 'forgotten').

  • Object to the processing of your information for marketing purposes (right to object).

  • Obtain and reuse your personal information for your own purposes (right to data portability).

  • Not be subject to a decision when it is based on automated processing (automated decision making and profiling).

I may update this privacy policy from time to time, so please check back frequently; you will be able to see if changes have been made by the date it was last updated.  Changes and clarifications will take effect immediately upon their posting on the website.
